Since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 a lot has happened around the saxonian capital of Dresden and what once caused emigration to the western parts of Germany, has changed greatly for the better. The region around Dresden combines beautiful landscapes, livable cities and villages, magical castles and diverse culture and traditions. High-ranking research and educational institutions, as well as all kinds of small and medium-sized companies and a highly developed technology sector are also concentrated in the so-called "Silicon Saxony". Eight cooperation partners (with increasing tendency), business, science and society are working together to strengthen the competitiveness towards other regions and ensure the general interest of the "Wachstumsregion Dresden".
